The Story of a Ball and a Pen…
Ian Fleming, a well known professional photographer from
Knysna, has been shooting a series of ball related
photographs using a Olympus Pen Camera and a Olympus
SP 35 film camera which is 40 years old. Ian normally
shoots on an Olympus E3 professional camera, but has
chosen a micro-four thirds camera for the project as well as
the 35mm rangefinder camera. The photographs will be
taken in African townships in the Garden Route, Karoo and
Eastern Cape. A percentage of the profits will be donated to
an organisation still to be decided by Knysna Tourism and
the Knysna Municipality.. The printing of the final selection
of ten will be done on canvas and sold by ten appointed
outlets in South Africa as a set or on a individual basis.
When asking Ian why he had decided to shoot the
photographs on a point and shoot versus his trusty
professional camera he said, " I want to prove to the keen
amateurs out there that top quality results can also be
achieved from the Olympus Pen."
